1 – Instruction Manual

1. FOREWORD

Dear Customer

We thank you for the confidence that you have placed in us. BENIMAR motorhomes will provide you with independence and comfort on your holidays, making it an authentic home on wheels, equipped to the last detail.

In this instruction handbook you will find basic information for the correct working of all the accessories. Nevertheless, we recommend you to read the appliance handbooks from the manufacturers that are supplied with this general handbook.

The fact that reference is made to an accessory does not imply that it is fitted to all models. Each model has a set of standard accessories Fitted and other optional extras, which are shown in detail in the commercial catalogues.

Thank you once again for your choice. We wish you happy holidays with your motorhome.

 

2. TABLES AND BEDS

Converting tables Into beds Is very simple, In the case of central table (U-shaped living area), carry out the following steps..

1. Turn the metallic handle on table toward the left and push table downward.

Table will lower until the correct lower position is found with a click of the handle that locks it.

 

2, Locate table that is housed between the seats and distribute the corresponding cushions correctly on to the table In order to enjoy a greater useful space as a bed, we advise putting the remaining pieces in one of the compartments.

 

In the case of folding tables (which are fixed to the wall), operate as follows:

 

1. Lift table and fold the leg. To fold the leg, pull it in the direction of the arrow (see figure 3). This movement. allows the table to be folded towards the inside.
2. To separate the table from the guide. Release the support mechanisms according to the sequence in figure 4.
3. Put the table between the two seats, locating it on the metal edges.
4. By pulling the guides from the seat chests, the bed base is widened.
5. Put the metal bar which is inside the cupboard between the guides.
6. Distribute the cushions correctly to cover the complete surface of the bed. The vehicle has two extra cushions which can be found in the cupboard to cover the widened area.

 

 

3. VENTILATION

All the BENIMAR motorhomes have vents in the floor for permanent ventilation (normally near the door) and in the roof (circular vents and skylights}. These vents should never be covered, not even in winter, as these allow for the necessary change of air.

If you wish to have increased ventilation, you can open the skylight with the corresponding handle and start the skylight fan (where fitted). The door and the windows with mosquito nets will provide good additional ventilation without the risk of insects getting in.

WINDOW WITH BLIND AND MOSQUITO NET

Benimar Motorhomes are equipped with a device which can be used in three different ways :

Mosquito Net, Blind, Open

The use of this device is so easy, using the main device as shown In the diagram to lower the blind or raise the mosquito net. If you prefer to have the window open, with neither blind nor mosquito net you must move the lever as shown in the diagram and the devices will slide away leaving the space free.

 

 

4. GAS INSTALLATION

The vehicle has a compartment for 2 gas bottles. The connecting valve of the bottle is the main gas valve. There are secondary gas taps (with their corresponding indicators) in the cupboard under the sink and in the wardrobe.

 

It is advisable to only have open the supply valves of the appliances that are in use.

VERY IMPORTANT.

In the event of the presence of gas being detected close the main valve; open doors and windows immediately and do not switch on any electrical appliances.

It is advisable to have a complete check of the gas installation every year in an establishment authorized by the BENIMAR distributor. This check includes the change of the flexible gas tube.

External gas connection (EUROPE model):

Some motorhomes have an external gas connection (for barbecue, etc}, with its corresponding valve. In order to make this connection, there is a flexible connecting pipe which is normally found inside the wardrobe.

This pipe has two different connectors at the ends :

1 – Screw connector for the barbecue.

2- Snap on connector for the external gas outlet.

The gas valve can only be opened and closed if the gas pipe is connected.

Removing pipe is only possible if the gas valve is closed.

5. TRUMATIC HEATING

Description of the buttons:

 

a- regulation of the turbine power (only for central heating)

b- lighting and regulating the heating

c- sight hole

d- battery casing

Turning on.

– Before switching on check that the batteries are installed.

Open the main gas valve and the gas valve of the heating system.

Push the knob B down and turn it to the operating position (from 1 to 10). The ignition is automatically carried out.

Keep the knob B pressed for a further few seconds and look through the sight hole C to check that the flame has been lit.

Release the knob and turn it to the desired position (from 1 to IO).

If the light goes out, wait at least two minutes before repeating the operation.

If the heating does not light or only sparks less than once a second, change the appliance batteries. These batteries are located in a casing at the position marked D.

Temperature Regulation :

When using the TRUMAVENT hot air system, we recommend putting the thermostat B in a position from 4 to 7. In case of not using or not having it, we recommend the positions from 1 to 3.

Turning off.

To turn the heating off, turn the knob B to the position “0”. Close the heating gas valve and finally, the main gas valve.

TRUMAVENT Central Heating ( in Anthus, Europe and Aereo)

Some models have TRUMAVENT Central Heating. This system forces the hot air, distributing it all over the inside of the motorhome. The control knob has three positions.

– Position “<” .. manual operation of the ventilation, using the power knob.

– Position “*”.Off.

– Position “A”. automatic operation of hot air fan.

OBSERVATIONS

Lighting the TRUMATIC Heating for the first time can produce smells and smoke. Open the windows and put the heating on maximum for approximately one hour.

Under no circumstances cover the hot air exit of the TRUMATIC stove.

It is recommended to change the batteries every year. Use high-temperature resistant batteries (see manufacturer’s handbook).

 

6 WATER SYSTEM

The motorhome has a clean water tank, located inside one of the seat chests, with an approximate capacity of 50 litres, This tank has an overflow which in the event of it being closed allows op to 125 litres to be stored.

The filing of the tank is effected through an external intake with a cover.

The tank level can be controlled from the control panel. There is a valve near the pump in order to empty it.

There is a waste water tank located under the vehicle, with an approximate capacity of 100 litres, whose level is also controlled from the control panel. In this case, the emptying is effected by pulling the red handle on the emptying valve, located underneath or equally by an electrically controlled valve, depending on the options fitted.

The water pump operates automatically, It is normally located near the drinking water tank, and is connected by means of a switch located on the control panel together with its fuse and warning light.

For hot water there is a water heater (see its operation in chapter 7 of this handbook).

Filling of water system:

To fail the system, operate as follows :

1, Check that the emptying valves of the tanks and water heater are closed.

2, Fill the drinking water tank, by means of the external intake.

3. Connect the water pump, by means of the switch on the control panel, with the taps in the open position.

4, When water gets to the taps, turn them off and turn the water heater on.

Emptying of water system:

If the motorhome is to be out of use for a long time, we recommend complete drainage of the system, likewise the tanks. In order to do this carry out the following steps:

1. Switch off the water pump and the water heater.

2. Empty the drinking water tank by means of the emptying valve located by the side of this tank.

3. Open all the taps.

4. Empty the water heater by means of its emptying valve.

5. When all the water has been emptied from the water heater and taps, empty the waste water tank.

6. Empty the THETFORD TOILET (see chapter 8 of this handbook).

COMMENTS

In winter it is advisable to put antifreeze in the waste water tank to avoid it freezing up.

It is advisable to periodically check the clean and waste water tank levels.

 

 

7. TRUMA WATER HEATER

The Truma water heater is normally located under the clothes wardrobe.

Its capacity is 10 litres and is controlled by a thermostat located near the control panel.

Turning on:

To turn it on, it must be full of water (to check, turn on a hot water tap).

1. Open the corresponding gas valves.

2. Press the knob B and choose the required temperature (50 or70). The ignition is automatic.

If the red warning light A comes on there Is a problem. Turn the switch B to position ! and repeat the procedure.

Turning off.

1. Turn the knob B to the off position (!)

2. Close the gas valves.

The water heater has a valve to empty it. This valve is located in the lower part of the water heater (see manufacturer’s handbook). There is a protection fuse on the control panel on one of the sides (see section on the electrical installation

 

8 THETFORD SWIVEL TOILET

The operation of the THETFORD SWIVEL TOILET is as follows (the referred drawings can be found on the back of the external access door).

Preparation for use:

1. Remove the container through the external access door of the motorhome (figure 1 and 2).

2. Turn the arm of the container upward (figure 3) and pour in THETFORD special liquid (Figure 4). Add water until the container bottom is covered.

3. Put the container back in its place (Figure 5 and 6), checking that it is locked and correctly fixed. Close the access door.

Operation:

1. Turn the toilet to the most comfortable position (Figure 7).

2. Open the lever manually (Figure 9), or automatically (Figure 11).

3. Trigger the water (Figure 8).

4. Close the lever manually (Figure 9) or automatically (Figure 12).

Emptying of the container.

The container capacity is approximately 17 litres. The level indicator is on the upper part of the toilet, and lights at 15 litres. It is very important to avoid the complete filling of the container. To empty the container carry out the following operations:

1. Open the outer access door and remove the container (Figure 13). This operation is possible only when the lever is locked.

2. Carry the container to an authorized emptying point (Figure 14).

3. Turnthe container arm, and empty it while pressing the air valve to achieve a smooth emptying (Figure 15).

We recommend regular cleaning (depending on use). To do this, open the lever and clean the edges and the atomiser with water. Apply silicon spray. Clean the rest of the toilet with soap and water. Do not use chlorine or any chemical solvents.

This appliance has a protection fuse located behind the seat (See manufacturer’s handbook).

CHECK-UP SWITCHES

The check up switches have several working modes.

A. Consulting mode.

It is ideal to save the battery and for the night, because the display is normally turned off. When pushing any key, the display lights {with the information requested), and the switch warning light is also activated. They turn off automatically after 10 seconds.

B. Informative mode:

It is interesting when you want to check a level for a long time. In this case, you must push the button selected for 3 seconds, so that the system is activated without limit. The display will remain activated until any key is pushed again. If this is the same key, the system will be turned off but, if it is another one, it will show the requested level for 10 seconds, and then it will turn off.

C. Alarm Warning mode

This function is specially importance to notice when there is an alarm condition. This situation (takes preference over any other) lights the warning light and the display automatically (flashes), in the following cases:

When the clean water tank contains less than 25 litres

When the waste water tank contains more than 66 litres

When any battery is below 11V

When the outside temperature is below 0°C. (in EUROPE models)

To leave this mode, push, the activated function key The display will turn off .

D. Solar panel mode

(only in vehicles equipped with solar panel): This function is automatically activated if display is in consulting mode. Once activated, it will remain in this way while there is enough sunlight or is interrupted by an alarm notice or user consultation. It can also be turned off pushing the key of the solar panel The solar panel charges the battery automatically (although the display is turned off) when the battery level goes below 13V. It stays on until it reaches 14.4V (full battery).

ELECTRICAL SUPPLY

The 220/240 V supply, by an external EEC type connection, supplies power to the kitchen and bathroom plugs, to the refrigerator and to the battery charger. To connect to t he 220/240Vsupply.

1. Connect the external EEC type connection.

2. Connect the switches 4 and 5 on the control panel.

The 12V supply, by means of the batteries, gives energy to all electrical appliances of the motorhome. The 12V installation is connected through switch 6 on the control panel.

Charging of the batteries is automatically carried out, by connecting the 220/240V connection (by means of the battery charger}, through the solar panel and also, of course, by starting the vehicle engine. The battery charging is indicated with a green light (9) located on the control panel.

All the vehicles have a conventional battery installed under the driver’s seat to supply the electrical appliances of the living compartment. This battery must be periodically maintained the same as that of the vehicle battery.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Under no circumstances must any object be placed in the battery compartment.

FUSES

The control panel fuses (7) are easy to remove, and they have a red light by the side of each one, which indicates when they are blown, In addition to the circuit breakers and the main panel fuses there are other protection fuses under the driver’s seat:

STANDARD INSTALLATION

 

In the vehicles with a water heater-heating system, there is a 3A fuse on position 3, connected by means of a red cable.

In the vehicles with microwave oven, there is a gold fuse, 80A, under the driver’s seat.

The electrical step has a second fuse, placed in the fuse box, under the dashboard of the vehicle. This fuse protects the automatic lifting of the electrical step when starting the engine.

 

In case of breakdown of some appliance, check the corresponding fuses and if in doubt, consult the manufacturer’s handbook.

SOLAR PANEL (in EUROPE model):

The EUROPE model has solar panel, that works automatically when receiving sunlight and it charges the batteries, independently if the display is on or not. When the batteries are totally charged, the solar panel automatically turns off, to avoid overcharging the batteries.

TV SCREEN AND CAMERA

Some models have a TV screen and camera that allows a view of the rear of the vehicle. (see manufacturer’s operating instructions). This appliance has a fuse: placed directly next to the exit of the battery terminal.

RADIO-CASSETTE KENWOOD (on the EUROPE MODEL).

The radio-cassette has a remote control so as to be able to use the stereo from within the living compartment (see manufacturer’s instructions). The remote control will not work if the driving cabin curtains are closed.

 

10.ELECTROLUX REFRIGERATOR

RM4361/4401/4501

The ELECTROLUX refrigerator has a freezer compartment of-12°C and a refrigerating compartment of 5°C. For correct working, this appliance must be in a horizontal position, Before turning the refrigerator on, we recommend cleaning of the interior with a damp cloth, Do not use chemical products.

The refrigerator has three different power supply possibilities: 12V and 220/240V electrical power and gas.

Warning! Use one energy source only!

 

Gas Working:

1, Turn on corresponding gas valves.

2, Check that the switches A and B are off.

3, Turn knob D to the “Max” position.

4, Put thermostat E on the maximum.

5, Connect the electronic ignition F, The ignition is automatic.

6, Press the knob D so that the gas gets to the burner, When the gas is burning, the luminous warning light F stops flashing.

7, Keep the knob D pressed for 10 – 15 seconds and then release it.

To stop the gas supply, turn off knob F and turn knob D to the “.“position.

220/240V Working:

1. Turn off the corresponding gas valves.

2. Check that the switches A and D are off .

3. Check that the 220/240V electrical supply is connected, by looking at the corresponding warning light on the control panel.

4. Put the thermostat C to a position between 3 and 5.

5. Turn the knob B to the ” I ” position. The green warning light must come on.

12V Operating:

(To prevent the batteries from going flat, 12V working is possible only when the vehicle engine is running.)

1. Turn off the gas valves.

2. Check that the knobs B and D are off.

3. Start the motorhome engine.

4. Activate switch A. The refrigerator will operate without interruption, so a thermostat is not necessary

11. ELECTRICAL STEP

If the electrical step motor does not work, check corresponding fuses (see chapter 9).

To move the step manually.

1, Draw the split pin A from the shaft B (figure 1).

2, Remove the shaft B and the washers C.

3, Pull the step up manually.

4, Put the shaft B on the Iateral hole of the step (figure 2).

5, Put the washers and the split pin on the shaft.

The drawings are below.

On the left of the dashboard of the vehicle there is a luminous red light which indicates if the step or the retractable legs are down.

When the engine is started up this will pull up the step automatically in a few seconds, after which the luminous red warning light will go out.

If this has not happened, visually check to see ,if the step has gone up before moving off.

 

 

12. RETRACTABLE LEGS

The retractable legs that are located at the rear of the vehicle can be one of two types. Manual on the Anthus, Aereo and Europe models or electrically operated which are optional in all cases.

Manual. These are operated by means of a handle that can be found inside the clothes wardrobe.

 

Electrical: There is a remote control which works by pointing it towards the back right corner light cluster of the vehicle.

 

The remote control has four buttons, the first and the second are to lower and raise the left leg, the third and the fourth to lower and raise the right leg.

When raising or lowering of either of the two legs, when they come to the end of their limit, the motor switches off automatically on coming up against a force and this is indicated by the flashing of the right indicator

Starting of the motor again, is not recommended once the indicator has flashed.

In the case of a breakdown, this leg can be operated by means of the handle for the manual legs.

For greater safety, the vehicle has a luminous warning light on the left of the dashboard that is lit when one of the legs (or the step) is in the down position.

 

13.AIR SHOCK ABSORBERS

 

The Europe series has an air suspension system on the rear axle included in its equipment, This suspension system is designed to solve the problems of load distribution, comfort and safety whilst on a journey.

An approximate pressure of 2 to 4 bars is recommended, depending on the load which is being carried or in the presence of cross winds.

 

 

14. MOTOR CYCLE CARRIER

This optional accessory is designed to house motor cycles and mopeds which have a weight less than 100kg.

Use:

1.Turn the locking controls (1) which are located on the back of the lower part, on the chassis.

2. Pull the motor cycle carrier out a little without coming to the end of its reach.

3. Once again turn the locking controls, returning them to their original position.

4. Pull the motor cycle carrier out again until it comes to the end of its reach. Check that the locking controls have been fixed in the new position on the carrier.

5. Release the ramp (2), which is located on the bottom part of the carrier, removing the split pin and the wing nut from the right bar.

6. Move the base onto the one which supports the motor cycle wheels (4) to a middle position and tighten it up.

7.Slot the ramp into the carrier base keeping the safety pins in place (3), Put the motor cycle onto the carrier.

8. Fix the wheels to the base which the safety straps.

9. Fix the handlebars of the motor cycle to the wall support (6) by means of the fixing arms (5)

 

IMPORTANT WARNING:

Remember that if your vehicle has a motor cycle carrier fitted, this reduces the possibilities of loading your vehicle by a value equal to the weight of the motor cycle carrier and the motor cycle. The maximum authorised weight of the Anthus and Europe models is 3,500 Kg.

 

15. TOWBALL

This is another of the optional accessories in the BENIMAR range which can be fitted to the Anthus and Europe models and with which the following considerations must be taken Into account:

The maximum weight of the trailer must be 750 kg with or without brake.

The maximum weight on the ball must be 75 kg

It must always be taken into account that the overweight which is produced by carrying the tow ball plus the trailer reduces the available places in the vehicle if necessary and must not exceed the authorised weight (3,500 kg).

 

16 BEFORE THE TRIP

Before any trip, it is essential to carry out the following checks:

Turn the 220/240V supply off.

HEADLIGHT ADJUSTMENT. The vehicle might or might not be fitted with auxiliary air suspension system. The basic vehicle is always fitted with a manual system of headlight adjustment, This is adjusted by a control on the left hand side of the instrument panel. In the case of vehicles fitted with auxiliary pneumatic suspension, the headlight adjuster must always be kept at the 0 position for all load conditions, the pneumatic pressure can vary between 2 and 4 bars.

In the case of the vehicle not having the auxiliary air suspension fitted, the headlight adjustment must be carried out manually, the position being between 0 and 3 In accordance with the User’s Manual for the basic vehicle.

Check tyre pressures whilst cold. With type 195/70 R 15C tyres, pressure must be 4,1 bar for the front wheels and 4,5 bar in the rear ones. With the 205/75 R 16C tyres, pressure must be 4,5 bar for all the wheels. Remember that your tyres are one of the most important element of your vehicle, therefore they must always be in good condition, changing them immediately when any fault or excessive wear is noticed.

The air suspension, the pressure in the air suspension must always be between 2 and 4 bars.

Turn off the gas taps and switch off any external gas outlet.

Close all cupboards, toilet and chest doors.

Close windows and close the lid of the skylights

Check the visibility through the vehicle rear- view mirrors.

Distribute the load correctly inside the motorhome. The heavy items should be placed inside the lower cupboards and chests, correctly fixed down. The extra loads such as the tow ball or water tank must not bring the vehicle over the maximum permitted weight of 3,500 kg. In the event of this happening, the extra weight must be reduced by reducing the number of passengers. Do not leave bottles, plates, etc. on the tables and surfaces. Do not leave objects on the floor.

Close the refrigerator with the safety catch.

Lift the retractable legs (if fitted) and the electrical step. These two elements have the same dashboard warning light and it must be off. The electrical step rises automatically when the motorhome engine is started, and it remains locked in this position while the engine is running.

Connect the refrigerator to 12V supply when the engine is started.

 

17. EXTENDED PARKING

When the motorhome has to be parked for a long time, out of use (for example, during winter, it is recommended to carry out the following operations:

Choose somewhere to park in the shade or under cover , if it is possible.

Switch off the electrical installation (switches 4, 5 and 6) on the control panel If you want greater safety disconnect the battery terminals from the battery.

Turn off the main gas valve.

Drain the entire water installation (as explained in chapter 6 of this handbook.

Close all the doors, skylights and windows.

 

18. CONSERVATION AND CLEANLINESS

 

External cleaning:

The use of strong detergents is not recommended for external cleaning. A mild detergent, well diluted with water, is sufficient.

Do not use chemical cleaners of any sort whatsoever for plastic windows, because these liquids cause the deterioration of the material. Use only water in this case.

Check periodically that all vehicle vents (heating, ventilation, etc.} are free of mud and dirt.

Interior cleanliness:

Cleaning of the internal furniture is the same as for normal household furniture.

Motorhome floor and walls can be cleaned with mild detergents.

Cushion and mattress covers are provided with zips for their removal. These covers and the curtains need to be dry cleaned.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
